My article was published by Ing Magazine, here.
We are pretty deep in school right now and homework assignments are beginning to flood in. Everyone needs a show to watch while eating or procrastinating late at night in bed. What can you do to de-stress and disappear? Binge of course! And we have the perfect shows for you.

Game of Thrones

8 Seasons

Everyone and their mother has heard of this show. If you haven’t seen the show itself or spoilers about it, it’s still worth watching. The characters are dynamic, and the costumes are out of this world. There is so much to love about this series and I can’t recommend it enough. It does have sex scenes and nudity, so pro tip: don’t watch it with your parents.

Designated Survivor
3 Seasons

When an unknown group blows up the Capital Building, killing every major person in the United States government, the only survivor from the now dead President’s cabinet must become the new President. Unprepared and overwhelmed, he has to navigate the position while trying to hold the country together and find who killed his colleagues. Let me tell you, it packs a punch. From the moment it starts, you are hit with so much emotion. You will experience so many twists and turns that will make your heart stop. I highly recommend this if you like thrillers and/or political dramas.

Carnival Row
1 Season

Creatures from legend are fleeing their homeland to a new country of men when an enemy invades. Two characters, one human and one fairy, must find their place in a world that outlaws their love while strange murders are taking place around the city. It takes place in a post-war Victorian era and it has World War II vibes. It has more fantasy aspects than Game of Thrones and includes more mythical creatures. The best way to describe this series is an adult Narnia mixed with a little Sherlock Holmes. This show is only one season so if you’re looking for a shorter binge this is for you. Also, it’s very good to catch up on the hype now before the second season comes out.

Love Island
5 Seasons

If you’re getting annoyed with The Bachelor or just want fresh faces, watch Love Island. This British love drama is easy to get lost in. You’ll love the wacky British slang and seeing the ups and downs of the relationships. It makes you realize how much humans are blind to others’ bad traits and how often we let our desires control us. If you finish it and want more, the show has an app! In it, you can be one of the islanders and try to find your happily ever after.

Jane the Virgin
5 Seasons

Jane has her whole life planned; she’s engaged and studying to become a teacher. Everything is going right until she accidently gets inseminated during a routine check-up. This comes as a big shock since she’s never had sex and planned to wait till marriage. Her life is spun upside down and she must figure out what she’s going to do next. It’s the perfect comedy when you want something light and fun. Written like a Spanish telenovela, it’s so refreshing. The charm will sweep you off your feet and before you know it, you’ll have your Netflix account asking if you’re ok at 3 am.

The Classics
So Many Seasons

Let’s get back to the basics and talk about The Office, Parks and Rec, and Home Improvement. All great shows and you will never get tired of it, no matter how many times you re-watch it. You bond with the characters. They are timeless series and will always be funny. When you don’t know what else to binge, find these in your time of need.
